Diaphragm respiration: take in air from the nose (inspire) inflating your stomach, expel air through the mouth (expire) deflating your stomach.
Anteversion-retroversion of the pelvis: rotate your pelvis until your back is not touching the carpet. Vice-versa, rotate your pelvis so that the lumbar column adheres to the carpet.
Disc Hernia
Intervertebral disc hernia L4-L5 or L5-S1 is a medical condition affecting the vertebral column and consists in a tear or a weakening of the fibrous disc ring and the consequent dislocation of the nucleus pulposus, causing irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve roots.
The intervertebral disc works as a shock absorber between vertebrae, thus allowing bending-stretching and lateral movements.
We can define it as a peripheral fibrous ring and a central nucleus pulposus, comprised for about 90% by water.
The tear in the external fibrous ring, associated with physiological dehydration of the nucleus pulposus, causes it to protrude, which may cause lumbar pain, sciatica.
Abnormal sensations such as tingling or sensitive deficits, diminished strength and weakened reflexes to the legs are associated with the pain.
The diminished strength concerns above all movements of the foot; the so-called "foot test" is performed by lifting the heels and the toes and is an indicator of the degenerative state of a hernia.
Usually, at the first warnings of pain, patients see their doctor and, after a neurological examination, he/she recommends the required therapy: use of anti-inflammatory drugs, special physiokinesis therapies (ionophoresis, diadynamic currents, massage therapy) or may request specialized visits to delve more deeply into the diagnosis through a CAT Scan (Computerized Axial Tomography) or an MR (Magnetic Resonance of the vertebral column).
Once the disc hernia is diagnosed, it is important to follow the instructions of the specialist. MyBack does not claim to be a medical instrument for the resolution of such a complex problem; however, its use is in any case optimal as a preventive measure for all those individuals who perform activities where the vertebral column is excessively solicited.
My Back is a "postural" tool for lumbar relaxation and helps to alleviate back pain.
In the case of diagnosed disc hernia, we recommend to use the machine under medical supervision.
